About the founder

Spencre McGowan was brought up somewhere between the Northern land and the Eastern sea. My work, be it in the kitchen, stitched on cloth, or formed on paper is inspired by the soil and what is discovered in it.

Spencre studied at The California School of Herbal Studies, where she received her certification as an herbalist in 2013. In the fall of 2018, she published her very first recipe book, Blotto Botany: A Lesson In Cordial Making & Plant Magic (Morrow Gift/HarperCollins). She currently resides in a small wooden cabin, alongside the icy caps of Montana, where she is working on her second book, Forest & Home: Cultivating an Herbal Kitchen.
